Geoff Garvin coaches St. Louis to 1st state boys track team title

In a stunning finale, St. Louis edged two-time defending state champion Punahou for its first HHSAA Boys State Track and Field Championship by half a point, 44.33-43.83.  The St. Louis team is coached by our own Tactical Strength & Conditioning Coach Geoff Garvin.

St. Louis won the title in the final race as the Crusaders took third place in the 4×400 relay, edging out Kamehameha-Oahu by 0.02 seconds.  With their third place finish, St. Louis earned just enough points for the title as Punahou finished first in the race.

“These boys, most of them came in the seventh grade; we really didn’t have a program,” said coach Geoff Garvin. “We had some bad luck the last couple years and even this year … but they never looked back, they only looked forward. (Myself and assistant coach Carolyn Parcheta) grew with them.”
